"You don't have to let that one thing be the thing that defines you"
Following such an amazing novel, I had lower expectations for this book. Though I enjoyed most aspects, there were parts of the book which I found slightly unnecessary. I feel this book was more so trying to cover all of the bases of questions that followed Me Before You. This novel strays slightly from the heartbreak of Will's death, to a triumph of rekindled friendships and opportunities. This was a slower read than Me Before You, but keeping in mind these are separate novels, it was well laid out. With it's own challenges Lou faces more obstacles than she can handle. Can she manage to move past the loss of Will? Can she mend the relationships between her and her family? What happened to the Traynors after Will? What sort of mess did he leave behind? All of these festering questions and more are answered in this novel. Without comparing it to Me Before You, it was a good read. My favorite aspect: Will is very much dead, but seems very much alive.
